Whispering No. 1 (2022); acrylic on canvas; 24" x 36";

*this artwork originated from an original artwork, titled, Silent Whisper (2022); see earlier post.

The inspiration behind the artwork remains the same, and with the original work in the background, the new art conveys the intended message better than before.

Excerpt from the original artwork (see earlier IG post):

Can you hear me? Are you listening? Those are the words that emanate from this artwork. The colors, though made up of individual bright colors are less distinct in their final composition, not unlike the muffled sounds of a whisper. The five visible colors stand for the five adults at a breakfast table, the indistinct colors are the muffled words of the 'Whisperer'; guess who the message is for - whoever is listening.

"Are you listening?

Lucky Numbers | F — Art Series (2021) | acrylic on canvas | 36" x 36" | J. Bonegard

Works of arts, in their possessiveness, are often associated with fortune, but what about the fortune that the mere observation of a work of art may bestow on the viewer? These were the thoughts associated with the origin of the F-Art series, or as explained by the artist, Fortune-Art series.

Pioneered by the artist, F-Art, as it is often referred, is a unique variant of abstract art where the imagery is worked and explored for its alchemist influences. Not distant from the artist's fascination with lines and angles of geometric art, numbers are an integral part of Fortune-Arts.

With the limitless possibilities of the works that is inherent to this series, the artist explained the expanded scope of work that comes with this dimension. It has also powered an aspect of studio art practice that provided the artist with the added luxury of spontaneity and randomness. According to the artist, what is depicted on the canvas, like other images of the FortuneArt series, has the potential to invite fortune into the life of the beholder.

Vision Unlimited (2021) J.Bonegard; acrylic on canvas.

"A vision is better manifested, than explained," says the artist, @j.bonegard.

This logic is the embodiment of one corner of the canvas of this painting; its colors symbolic of clarity on one hand, and enigma on the other hand. On the canvas, are six color variations, all expressive of the depths that vision often travels to reveal the future.

The Couple (2022)(II); oil on canvas; 24"×48".

This artwork is the first of a successful clone of an earlier work, on a slightly larger canvas. In the version that preceded this piece (see earlier IG post), it was painted to be a solo piece, to commemorate a wedded couple. In an unpredictable turn, the work has ministered to a score of people, leaving the artist with no choice but to replicate the work, using a slightly smaller canvas. This picture was taken at an angle, and may be a true representation. Also notice that the use of burnt umber as the color of the central pie e altered the contrast pattern of this version. Nevertheless, the concept and orientation remain the same. This piece, like the last, will soon head to grace the home of another happy couple.

Helix of Life #x (2021); acrylic on canvas; diptych - 24" x 36"

Ever thought of a DNA-like structure that defines every human behavior? Not unlike the strands of genetic codes embedded in the human DNA, are the encoded signals that define how an individual is likely to behave. With nature playing its dominant part, and the environment exerting its dynamic and powerful influences, no one individual behaves in exactly the same manner.

According to the artist, the thought of a DNA-like code that informs of a person's idiosyncrasies and desirable personality traits were the basis of this work. Part of a series, in the choice of colors and the dimensions/orientations of the segments that constitute this geometric map, the uniqueness of every individual is defined. Just like our imaginations, the possibilities are endless.

Baby Talk - True Love Do Exist (2022) acrylic on canvas; 24"x48"

A continuation of one of two artistic directions for 2022. This piece speaks to a complex emotion that is universal to all, but not always reflected in the actions of many. In a world where people who claim to love one another hurt each other without remorse, one often wonder whether true love only belong to the realm of fairytale. In the vibrant simplicity of this artwork, one is reminded to reflect on the relationships we have with loved ones, those who constitute our 'family', and where possible, to explore the pathway of redemption, hoping to let go of the past, in pursuit of a blissful future.

Sweet Sixteen (2021)(30" x 30")(oil + gouache on canvas) by J.Bonegard. (no. x of 16)

The sentiment behind this artwork, one of sixteen, is evident in the verses of the poem that follows (written by the artist @J.Bonegard). Both the artwork and the poem (both titled 'Sweet Sixteen') were created to commemorate the sixteenth birthday of the artist's beloved daughter. On the back surface of each of the canvasses is the handwritten poem signed by the artist.

Of the sixteen art pieces (some oil paintings, some acrylic, some mixed, including the use of gouache), one was gifted as a birthday present - to the daughter, some saved for the artist's collection, the remaining pieces will pass on to collectors all over the world, a worthy gift for parents to present to their sons and daughters. And the price? In multiples of sixteen, to the highest bidder.

..............

Sweet Sixteen

Like yesterday, your coming-of-age
In being, in becoming, a new beginning
The canvas of life, yours to prime

Shoed or unshoed, make your mark
In deed and purpose, bless the earth
The canvas of life, yours to paint

A dozen and four, the years of youth
A gestation it is, of hope, of promise
The canvas of life, yours to frame

Let the candles burn; a little prayer
Let your lips move; a simple wish
The canvas of life, yours to cherish

Floral Ecstasy (2020); acrylic on canvas; 30"x40"

'Floral Ecstasy', acrylic on canvas, speaks for itself, a spectral display of colors of varying intensity, dispersed on a complex geometric construct. Its effects on viewers is equally varied, conjuring a feeling of intense emotional feelings in some, and surreal in the way some see reality.

Decision I (2021); acrylic on canvas; 30” x 40”.

Having to choose between two well-defined alternatives is the best case scenario in the act of decision-making. With every additional variable in the decision-making puzzle, the complexity associated with making a decision multiplies, turning a simple act into something that is closer to an art. The blotches on this artwork were no accidents but a representation of those variables in our lives, that, though they may be accidental and less well-defined, they need to be considered in our decision-making.
